The Warren County Board of Supervisors discussed the Intentional Residential Services Home (IRSH) residence in Indianola at their work session earlier this week. The residence is seeking to add one more bed to get the total number to five. Warren County District One Supervisor Brian Arnold says there is a need for mental health assistance not only in Indianola, but in many places.
“You know whether they are doing a good job or not, that doesn’t come into play or not. That doesn’t come into play in our decision. Our only role in that decision is just to say there is a need in the community or not in the community. For mental health services, there certainly is a need in a community, but that doesn’t really say whether that individual facility will be licensed or not.
The board will have to decide to send a letter to the state on the facility’s behalf to request an additional bed. For the full interview, click here.
