MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Mar. 2nd is World Teen Mental Wellness Day. The day is to help highlight the mental struggles teens in the modern world face.

Aspirus Health says due to the pandemic, many teens have missed out on several milestones necessary for their growth. The C.D.C says one in three teens experience feelings of loneliness and depression. Aspirus Behavior and E.A.P. Counselor Tisha Sleiter says to watch out for signs that your teen is depressed.

“So, you want to look for behavioral signs. You want to look for social withdrawal, withdrawal from friends,” Sleiter said. “Just really simple things where they’re not acting like themselves.”

Sleiter says the best thing to do for your teen is talk to them to know more about their mental health. If they express feelings of depression, try and get them help when signs begin to show.
