The initiative is raising awareness for mental health.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Get outdoors and walk, bike or hike, ride a horse and help a great cause while you’re at it.
Loving Thunder is holding a virtual fundraiser through April 18, called Miles for Mustang. The organization supports raising awareness for mental illness and anxiety.
“I approached Twana about raising awareness for mental illness and anxiety and I have a heart for that because so many people battle and they don’t talk about it. So I thought, you know? We can track our miles, whether you want to run, walk, ride your bike, ride your horse and everyone kind of does it on their own and they have till April 18 to do that,” said Ann Hager, with Running Fearless Ministries.
The proceeds will go to Loving Thunder. Then, on the 25th, we’re going to have a big celebration and people will get to do a victory lap.
How do you get involved? How do you track it and get your organization involved? Visit their website, click on “Miles for Mustangs” and register. You can also count your miles and have sponsors or make a donation.
Loving Thunder is a therapeutic horseback riding program for people with disabilities. They have been in business now 18 years and we’re primarily a volunteer-run organization.
“[We] desperately need some volunteers right now to help with our lessons, because most of our participants need at least three people to keep them safe on the horses,” said Twuana Raupp, executive director and founder of Loving Thunder.
