WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)–Be kind to your mind—that was the message at UNCW on Saturday.

On the university’s campus, the “Be Kind to Your Mind Mental Health Awareness Festival and Fundraiser” was held to promote mental health resources and support.

The event featured live music, activities, food, and several vendors celebrating mental wellness.

Stacey Kolomer, Director of the School of Social Work, says events like these help people come out of their shells and feel more comfortable asking for help if needed.

“Everyone knows someone, or they themselves have a mental illness or mental disorder. It’s really important that our community is well-resourced and that there is something here for you,” said Kolomer.
