DePaul Community Health Centers, in partnership with Florida Parishes Human Services Authority, has opened a new health center in Hammond aimed at expanding access to primary care, behavioral health services and support programs across southeastern Louisiana.

The organizations marked the opening March 20, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new facility located at 835 Pride Drive, Suite B.

The center expands access to primary and preventive care for adults and seniors and also offers pharmacy services, Medicaid enrollment assistance and support for social needs such as food, housing and employment. Officials said the location is designed to better integrate physical health services with behavioral health and developmental disability care provided by FPHSA.

The partnership brings together DCHC’s medical services with FPHSA’s recovery-based behavioral health and developmental disability programs, creating a coordinated care model for residents across the five Florida Parishes north of Lake Pontchartrain: Livingston, St. Helena, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington parishes.

Clinical services at the site began last month with provider Elizabeth “Clancey” Powell, who is working with both organizations to serve local patients.

“We are proud to officially open this new health center and expand access to comprehensive care for the Hammond community,” said Michael G. Griffin, chief executive officer of DePaul Community Health Centers. “This partnership reflects our shared commitment to meeting patients where they are and ensuring they have access to the services they need to improve their overall health.”

DCHC said the expansion is part of its broader mission to provide affordable, comprehensive health care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. The organization operates 12 community health centers across the greater New Orleans area, offering services ranging from pediatrics and dental care to chronic disease management, prenatal care and onsite pharmacy and laboratory services.
