(ABC 6 News) — The Rochester Public Library hosted a public listening session on Wednesday to discuss a new mental health resource that could be on its way to Olmsted County.

The discussion centered around the International Clubhouse, which is an evidence-based model that provides people with structure, a sense of purpose, and a sense of community.

“In our region we have peer-support drop-in centers, which fill a need, but this model is so much more. And Olmsted County has literally nothing like this for folks living with mental illness, and we hope to see that change,” said Megan Toney, the executive director of NAMI Southeast Minnesota.

Currently, there are three of these mental health recovery buildings in the state, but they all are located in the Twin Cities metro area.
