Victoria County Mental Health Facility receives grant funds

VICTORIA, Texas — Victoria County has received $20 million from Texas Health and Human Services to fund a new mental health facility.

The project’s estimated total cost is $40 million.

Plans for the facility have been in development for several years. Victoria County purchased the land for the project in September 2024 from the Texas Zoo for $50,000.

In February 2026, the county hired SpawGlass Construction to manage the project and coordinate subcontractors. Construction was expected to begin this month, according to a previous report.

The Victoria County Behavioral Health and Mental Hospital will be located on Big Bend Drive near Victoria Regional Airport.
