Plumas Rural Services announces a training in Youth Mental Health First Aid set for April 2, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Christian Life Fellowship Church, 317 First St. in Quincy. The event is designed to empower adults with knowledge and strategies for recognizing, responding to and supporting mental health and substance use challenges in youth ages 6 to 18.
“Whether you’re a parent, teacher, coach, youth leader or anyone working with young people, this training provides practical tools to help you make a meaningful difference in a young person’s life,” say organizers.
The training will explore mental health topics for this age group, including
Anxiety
Depression
Eating disorders
Attention deficit hyperactive disorder
Signs and symptoms of substance use challenges
How to interact with a child or adolescent in crisis
How to connect youth with help
Trauma
Self-care
The impact of social media and bullying
