Frontier Staff Writer Garrett Yalch will participate in a panel discussion with journalists and local leaders on the current state of mental health care in Tulsa on Monday, March 30.
The Tulsa Flyer and The Oklahoma Eagle are hosting the free discussion from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 101 E. Archer Street in Tulsa. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
The forum is part of “Snapshot: Mental Health,” a collaboration between local newsrooms working to better understand and improve mental health care across Tulsa and Oklahoma.
Frontier Staff Writer Ari Fife and Yalch reported on state funding cuts to mental health services for the project.
Yalch also published an investigation earlier this month that uncovered seven deaths in three years at the Tulsa Municipal Jail, which regularly houses people with severe mental illness.
Other panelists will include:
Ismael Lele, reporter for The Oklahoma Eagle
Christine Marsh, executive vice president, Child Abuse and Trauma Services, Family & Children’s Services
Mike Brose, consultant for the Tulsa Day Center
Zach Stoycoff, president and CEO, Healthy Minds Policy Initiative
