LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – Laredo residents got muddy for a cause on Saturday, March 28, raising awareness for mental health and suicide prevention at the second annual Mud Fiesta.

The Mud Fiesta 2.0 kicked off at 8 a.m. at Jovita Idar’s El Progreso Park.

The city of Laredo and the Awareness Warriors Foundation, a nonprofit focused on veterans’ mental health, organized the event.

Participants tackled a muddy obstacle course, challenging an awareness warrior.

Local organizations, including the Laredo Fire Department and the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, set up booths with resources and activities.
