About Aroostook Mental Health Services
Aroostook Mental Health Services, also known as Aroostook Mental Health Center or AMHC, is a private, non-profit organization that has provided behavioral health services in Maine for over sixty years. The organization operates nearly thirty locations across Aroostook, Hancock and Washington counties.
The organization offers a range of services, including residential treatment, outpatient therapy, medication-assisted treatment, community-based programs and crisis support.
What Happened?
AMHC recently experienced a network disruption that affected some of its business operations and temporarily interrupted connectivity.
On March 24, 2026, a ransomware group known as Qilin claimed responsibility for the attack and posted AMHC’s name on the dark web, stating that they had obtained data from the organization. AMHC has confirmed that this was the result of their decision not to negotiate with the cybercriminals.
In response, AMHC partnered with cyber incident specialists to investigate the scope and nature of the breach.
At this time, the investigation is ongoing.
