TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Valeo Behavioral Health is inviting people to shine a light on mental health through their annual Unmasking Stigma fundraising gala.
Aimee Copp Hasty from Valeo visited Eye on NE Kansas to share what’s in store for this year’s event.
The keynote speaker will bring humor to the festivities. David Granirer is a counselor and standup comedian who lives with bipolar disorder. He founded Stand Up for Mental Health, which teaches stand up comedy to people with mental illness as a way to build confidence and fight stigma.
In addition, they will honor Patti Mellard, Kansas Housing Resources Corporation and recently-retired Valeo CEO Bill Persinger for their work in and support of mental health. Attendees also will hear a personal testimony from John Cantrell.
