Kimberly Shannon Murphy explains that unresolved trauma does not remain contained within an individual.

She describes how unprocessed experiences can influence behavior, emotional responses, and relationships, often without conscious awareness. When these patterns are not addressed, they can be passed on to children through everyday interactions.

Rich Roll adds that working through personal trauma is not only self-focused, but also relational. Healing can interrupt patterns that would otherwise continue across generations.

Addressing these experiences can support healthier dynamics within families, reducing the likelihood that the same patterns are repeated over time.

  1. I left yet another specialist today saying my trauma is what's causing my tinnitus. I recently tried processing my trauma again…. I thought I was doing well. Until I had a nightmare that raised my heart rate and BP so high for so long I had to go to the hospital. I have kids. My trauma is 100% affecting everyone around me. I have been working so hard and yet I'm getting held back by my trauma. If I had thousands of dollars. To go to a place that would help me process my trauma. Where I was safe to have the nightmares nonstop and have whatever reaction that might happen while processing my trauma. I would go in a heart beat. But I don't. I have a Psychiatrist, therapist, mental health case worker, peer support person and I'm in the ITCD program and have been working with them and many other people or places. And my ptsd and anxiety is holding me back and affecting every aspect of my life. I am ready and willing to do the work. Yet the resources aren't available to me.
