POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (WSIL) — Centerstone will celebrate the grand opening and ribbon cutting of its new 10,378-square-foot clinic on Sterling Drive in Poplar Bluff on Friday, April 10.

The facility, located at 1200 Sterling Drive, represents a $3.4 million investment in behavioral health services for the region. The project was funded through a 60/40 capital improvement match involving the Missouri Behavioral Health Council and the Missouri Department of Mental Health.

Centerstone serves as the parent company of Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health (SEMOBH), which officially became part of the organization in fall 2025. The company operates across nine states and employs more than 10,000 team members nationwide.

The new Poplar Bluff clinic is designed to offer a wide range of services, including psychiatric evaluations, medication management, co-occurring counseling, family and trauma therapy, care coordination, peer support, and group counseling and education. Officials say the building was intentionally designed to create a well-lit, comfortable, safe, and secure environment for patients throughout their treatment journey.

“Mental illness or substance abuse doesn’t discriminate; they can affect anyone regardless of gender, age, race or socioeconomic status,” said Cathy Schroer, Centerstone Vice President of Southeast Missouri Market Operations. “Despite the increased number of people experiencing mental illness, there is still a great deal of stigma involved in acknowledging mental illness and people seeking treatment. Being able to provide care in a friendly and welcoming place is great for our patients and our clinicians.”

Construction of the facility was led by McGrath & Associates, Inc., the project’s primary contractor.

In southeast Missouri, Centerstone employs more than 200 team members who provide individualized treatment for substance use disorders, psychiatric care, and behavioral health needs across eight counties.

“We are very proud of the commitment that our team members show their community on a daily basis,” Schroer said. “Their dedication and compassion to serve others is the foundation of our agency.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the new clinic and learn more about the services available to residents throughout southeast Missouri.
