Lil Nas X was assigned to a mental health treatment program on Monday in order to potentially dismiss his battery charges, per a report in Rolling Stone.

California judge Alan Schneider ruled that Lil Nas X’s August arrest for allegedly battering three police officers was “aberrant from his normal conduct” and said that it was due to the artist’s bipolar diagnosis. If Lil Nas X complies with his treatment plan and doesn’t break any laws for two years, the charges against him will be dismissed.

“When treated, he is much better off, and society is much better off,” the judge said. Schneider also said that Lil Nas X seems to be “doing very well.”

During the two-year mental health program, Lil Nas X is not allowed to possess any weapons or threaten any violence.

Outside the courtroom, Lil Nas X told Rolling Stone that he was “thankful. Just very thankful.” He added, “It could have been much worse.”

He also told people assembled outside the courthouse, in a video that has since gone viral, that he was “just going through the flow of life.”

Christy O’Connor, a defense lawyer for Lil Nas X said in court that the singer had checked himself into an Arizona treatment center after his arrest and had been there for two months of “absolutely successful” inpatient care. She added that, since his time at the facility, he has been in a “pretty rigorous mental health regimen,” including treatment with a therapist and a psychiatrist.

The singer took to Instagram to remind ICE agents to never acknowledge her existence.

“Hopefully, I’ll never see you again, except on a stage,” Deputy District Attorney Jodi Taksar said to Lil Nas X as he left the courtroom, per Rolling Stone.

The “Old Town Road” singer was charged with four felonies in August after he was seen wandering the streets of Los Angeles in his underwear. He was charged with three counts of battery against a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. Following the incident, he was hospitalized for a possible drug overdose.

After being released from jail on bail following the incident, Lil Nas X said “Your girl is going to be ok y’all” in an Instagram video.

“She’s gon’ be alright, she’s gon’ be alright. That was fucking terrifying,” he said. “That was terrifying. That was a terrifying last four days but your girl is going to be alright.”
