ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — The National Latino Behavioral Health Association is partnering up with the American Psychiatric Association to host a community mental health fair at the National Hispanic Cultural Center on Saturday, April 11 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The free event aims to be “family-focused and rooted in New Mexico’s diverse Latino, Indigenous, immigrant, and rural communities.”

“Through these activities, APA and NLBHA aim to create an empowering space that builds on the strengths of the Albuquerque community—supporting youth mental health today while strengthening pathways to care for the future,” American Psychiatric Association President Dr. Theresa Miskimen Rivera stated in a news release on Tuesday.

The fair starts in the morning with a mental health summit for teenagers. Programming includes group discussions, interactive breakout sessions, wellness activities, and peer-led conversations focusing on stress, identity, and help-seeking. Participation is through invitation only, “with schools and youth-serving organizations bringing students to the summit.”

In the afternoon, the health fair will bring together local organizations, mental health clinicians, and advocates to share available information about mental health and substance use resources. Community members of all ages are invited.

“These events reflect our commitment to meeting youth and families where they are, honoring community strengths, and expanding access to culturally responsive mental health support—both now and for generations to come,” Dr. Yolanda Rodriguez of NLBHA stated in a news release on Tuesday.

Community members can register to attend online, and interested vendors can also register online.
