GRAND ISLAND – Goodwill Industries of Greater Nebraska announces the planned closure of its Behavioral Health Services programs, including Day Rehabilitation, Day Support, Community Support, Emergency Community Support, and SOAR.
Goodwill posted the announcement on its website, dated April 8.
For years, Goodwill has been honored to serve individuals in Grand Island and surrounding communities through these programs, and Goodwill deeply values the trust and partnerships that have been built.
Goodwill has provided a Behavioral Health Services program since 1989.
Current challenges, however, have made it necessary for us to refocus resources to continue serving the community effectively in other ways.
The closure will occur in two phases.
Day Rehabilitation and Day Support services will end on April 24, 2026.
Emergency Community Support, Community Support, and SOAR programs will conclude on June 30, 2026.
Goodwill’s top priority during this transition is to support all individuals currently enrolled in these programs.
Goodwill’s foremost concern is for the people affected by this change. Goodwill employees are assisting each individual and their families to help transition them to other available support providers in the community.
Goodwill is committed to working hand-in-hand with everyone involved to ensure they continue to receive the care and assistance they need during and after this transition.
Goodwill’s commitment to the community remains strong.
Goodwill will continue to offer Supported Employment, Benefits Planning, Housing, and Developmental Disability Services.
Since 1966, Goodwill has been honored to serve individuals in communities across greater Nebraska through these programs, and Goodwill is thankful for the relationships it’s built and the confidence the community has placed in Goodwill.
Goodwill understands this is difficult news, and Goodwill sincerely appreciates the understanding and support of partners, staff, and community members as Goodwill moves through this transition.
While this chapter is coming to a close, Goodwill’s commitment to helping people overcome barriers and improve their quality of life remains strong.
Goodwill extends its gratitude to all community partners and stakeholders for their support and understanding during this time. Together, Goodwill has made a measurable difference in people’s lives, and Goodwill remains committed to sustaining that impact by serving the community through Goodwill’s ongoing programs and services.
