SAGINAW – The Great Lakes Bay Area Celebrity Game is set to return later this month, but the focus will go beyond basketball.

This year’s event, scheduled for April 19 at Michigan Lutheran Seminary, will highlight the importance of community and shine a light on mental health awareness through its support of the B#4 Foundation.

The foundation, established in 2023 in honor of Braden “Brady” Hessbrook, is dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and suicide prevention through education, outreach, and advocacy.

Originally launched in 2014 as a season-ending exhibition by the Tri-City WELS Men’s Basketball League, the event transitioned into a charitable initiative just one year later. Since then, it has raised more than $32,000 for various causes across the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Now with the B#4 Foundation at the forefront, organizers are aiming to continue that impact while helping break the stigma surrounding mental health.

Mental health continues to be a topic many struggle to talk about openly,  something the foundation is working to change.

Through events like the celebrity game, the foundation aims to create a space where conversations feel more accessible, while encouraging individuals to seek help when they need it.
