What has this to do with the first Van Hagar album? 🤣😂👏👍🎸🇺🇸
Katie.. how many times have you done this to patients? Did you ever find out what then became of the patient afterward? Did it really help them?
I was thrown in it without even knowing it. I checked in for stomach pain and got thrown in 72 hour for demanding better bed sheet and a pillow. Insanity.
I'm late to the party. THERAPISTS (no offense) are absolutely NOT medical doctors and should have NO rights regarding sending someone to a mental health facility. Many times, people sent to psych wards are experiencing a physical condition, such as a stroke, a UTI, etc. Therapists are NOT trained to understand this at all. I knew a man who was sent on a hold because he was behaving strangely …it was a stroke and he was, "Baker Acted". He passed away and his family sued the hospital. What you can say if someone calls the police, PET, or whomever: "I am not a threat to myself or others and I have the right to remain quiet and you need to please leave immediately, or I will call my lawyer. Have a nice day". Be very calm, do not run or make sudden movements. Also, you are NOT required to talk to anyone trying to commit you to a psych ward. No warrant, no entry. Politely ask people to leave and stay silent.
I was held at Cedar Springs Mental Health hospital against my will for zero reason for a week so they could charge my insurance. They did not have a court order nor did they even fill out my paperwork they gave me when I left. they wouldn't let me speak to an attorney or my family. They took all my belongings and refused to give me any information on why I was there. They caused me to lose my animals to the humane society.I was also separated from my vehicle ain New Mexico and flown on a jet to their facility. My vehicle tow bill was almost 700 dollars and they were about to auction it off. Once released I was told they couldn't take me to my house as it was over the 5 mile allowance so I was then ditched on the streets. They charged my insurance thousands and it destroyed my life. I have requested my records tree times and they refuse saying it's not in my best interest. that's because I'm going to sue them!.
The bill for a dismissed hold was $21,000. Paying for jail?
Except they definitely knew I didnt qualify and did it anyway. I do not believe all professionals operate professionally.
Short answer: YOU HAVE NONE!!!! And "helping" me cost me my job, my house and my self-respect. So thank you to the "professionals" who helped me.
I don't believe it was in the best interest of this heart patient who received no diagnosis. I was crying hard because I knew something was wrong. The arnp asked if i had suicidal ideations. I said yeah ever since. I have never lied to my health care providers about that . She asked if I would like to speak to someone for a few minutes before i left. I agreed. Next thing I knew I was given a drug test stripped of al my clothes and other possessions and put in a room with a guard. I was not allowed to use my because they did not wish to be harassed that's what they said. I begged them to call my primary care provider or my attorney and was refused. I was held for over 17 hrs with a bucket comode that was not emptied once. I had no soap water or sanitizer i had to beg for hours to get some of my medications that are listed in the hospital system. I was tol I was on a 72 hr hold which was not true that doesnt start until you arrive at the asylum. I was told the sheriff's deputies would be there in a few hours (11:00, then 3:00– 4:00, then 8:00 or 9:00, a gaurd told me in the middle of the night it would be about 11:00 am but I kept believing the medical staff so I stayed up all night waiting. The sheriff's deputies threatened to take me out if I didn't walk but since my doctor ordered cane was taken away from me for 17 hours I could barely even move. He later told me he always comes by at that time of day. I eas lied to by staff repeatedly so instead of sleep I just got more stressed. Ten minutes after my interview with an actual mental healthcare professional I was released. St J M in Lexington KY stay away
In an involuntary mental health hold, like a 5150 hold in California, patients generally have the right to refuse medical treatment, including medications, unless an emergency situation exists, or a court determines they lack capacity to consent. Following a 5150 hold, individuals are typically prohibited from possessing or purchasing firearms for a specific period, such as five years, according to Greg Hill & Associates. The "3-month rule" in mental health, particularly in the context of the Mental Health Act, refers to a period during which a patient can be treated with medication without their consent. After this initial 3-month period, continued treatment requires a second opinion from a SOAD (Second Opinion Approved Doctor). This rule aims to ensure that treatment is appropriate and necessary, especially for patients who may lack capacity to consent to treatment.
I live in England and its a Joke that a person can call ambulance lying saying you said to them you are suicidle and needed to be sectioned and your taken in and dols is put in place. Dols is Deprivation of liberty safegarding. Then treatment is out of your control. You did not know why your in this situation. Your having drugs pumped into your system. Your now paranoid. Hallucinating from the medication especialy when you have been knocked out by anathesia waking up with mittens on stopping you from pulling out tubes that are in your arm by needle under sedation. Your now petrified because now 2 weeks your like this. You end up getting diagnosed with schizophrenia catatonia with psychosis and now medicated with Quetiapine and antidepressants. At 67 years of age…Retired
Try getting a 5250 hold. How do you contest it?
It's a 5250 and it's at least two weeks on hold in Ca
I love this girl…❤ Thank you for helping people. 😊
Just saying these God damned hospitals wont honor your request ro contest the hold before a judge and they will violate your other rights and not inform you of any of your rights also this woman is a liar they dont put you on these holds out of care compassion its to strip you of your rights and make profit off of you also it’s because these phsycopaths get off on your suffering
I love 5150. Van Halen 🤘😂🤙
Hear in Ireland the psychiatric mafia is behaving like the old Catholic church. Committing crimes against humanity against their patient
Preemptively Cancel any mental health insurance and they won't lock you up
This just happened to me. Sept 23td. Michigan. Medieval torture. You can say what yr rights are but hospital employees dont honor it
Its a national disgrace. It's big business. Not mental health or care. It's intimidation and fear based. Have some people on to discuss their experiences. You can talk all you want. You haven't lived it
my experience was that anytime i claimed to not need to be there it was just taken as evidence that i had little insight into my struggles and needed to be there
I think mental facilities need to reevaluate how they treat their patients. All the stories i've heard are too consistent to be made up. You say you have the best interest of the patient but your actions and treatment say otherwise– to a point that these flawed humans who are in charge of operations/regulating/nursing/corresponding with the patient can LIE on you just to get what they need to get done because it's the patient's/crazy person's word against theirs. They need to initiate some process where these facilities and the employees can be rated and judged according to their conduct and treatment of the patient(s) — Perhaps im the crazy one for suggesting this: How about we treat like people who need to heal instead of making their mental health worse. It's odd that so many actually heal from leaving the place and not while they are admitted
Can you refuse medical treatment during a legal hold? Can a patient who attempted suicide refuse a blood transfusion that will save his life? Can a patient who swallowed mysterious pills that nearly killed him refuse blood draw to determine how to save his life?
i was once 515O'd by police because i had a question so i called the hotline and they sent the police, police committed me based on my history of having been committed. i clearly told them i have no plans of hurting myself or others. they still took me in. claiming my history as reason enough. the hospital released me the next day after i talked to the doctor.
I've had a disability for the past 30 years: Severe anxiety attacks that are manageable with medication. Though it's a nice idea to 'keep someone safe', I have met very few mental health professionals who have been able to adequately make the judgement call to take away another person's freedom for a period of time.
When I first returned from abroad to the United States 12 years ago, my formerly nice hometown seemed to have developed a taste for finding as many pretty, vulnerable women as possible and holding them against their will in these facilities. It's easy to call someone else crazy. It's also easy to write an articulate work of fiction in someone else's medical records. However, the treatment against pretty women in these facilities included forced drugging, locking them in filthy rooms, and rampant sexual assault perpetrated by male orderlies and 'therapists' as well as male patients.
That's not exactly keeping someone, especially vulnerable, pretty women 'safe and secure'. Due to grievous human rights violations, this law needs to be abolished and participating hospitals need to be charged with aggravated kidnapping.
If someone commits a crime, they should spend time in jail. But creating a loophole where any vindictive guy or gal can make false claims against a non-criminal and get them abducted to these horrific places is, by far, the stupidest thing a country can allow.
The agency associated with ordering 5150s in my hometown is now facing multiple class-action lawsuits. They should be facing criminal charges.
Good luck with your career in therapy. If you are truly a quality therapist, you'll never order one of your patients into harm's way in this manner.
Oh they don't always do it because they want to help people. There are so many wicked people out there.
I have an honest question, and I mean it humbly. For example, my wife has been placed in a psychiatric facility twice. Both times, after only a couple of days of being medicated, when I spoke with her she seemed back to her normal self. Yet she still wasn’t allowed to be released.
Is there no process where someone can be properly medicated, evaluated to ensure they’re in the right state of mind, and then allowed to go home? It honestly felt like the extended stay made her PTSD worse rather than helping.
My wife is the kindest, sweetest, most loving woman. We’ve been married about 12 years and we’re both still in our 30s. With 4 beautiful children.
The situation nearly cost me my job, which would have created a domino effect for our family.
It just makes me wonder if the system is broken in some ways. Am I the only one who feels this way?
The fact that the system has a nerves to put "hurting others" and "hurting your self" in the same box and that you can imprison someone just because they want to only do somehing with themselves (like for example end their own life which sould be everyones basic right) and that they don´t violate someoneelses right means that people are nothing but slaves.
"Because we are really doint is with your best interest in mind".
Is like the most disgusting statement you can ever say to someone and you would deserve a slap in your face for saying so. Nothing that would perverts like you do to me against my will can ever be "in my best interest"
"A´m I right"
No you are NOT right.
Paternalism is pure evil. And people like you who enforce it are sick.
What can I do when I don't think I'm safe with my mental health care providers emotional abusel
