SACRAMENTO, Calif. (FOX26) — Local students and mental health advocates are highlighting their fight for mental health awareness.

FOX26 News Anchor Justin Willis traveled with students to Sacramento to join them for what the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) calls Advocacy Day.

Students spoke with legislators about the state of mental health and sought their help in fighting the stigma surrounding it.

They’re learning the skills to advocate and express confidence in dealing with lawmakers, and to create a clear path to healing.
