KENNEWICK — Comprehensive Healthcare opens the Columbia Valley Center for Recovery (CVCR) today (Friday), marking the Tri-Cities’ first inpatient facility dedicated to behavioral health and substance use treatment.

The center aims to fill a critical gap in regional care by providing a localized alternative to emergency departments. Operating under a “No Wrong Door” model, the facility accepts individuals regardless of their ability to pay. Patients can self-refer by walking in or calling 988, and law enforcement can transport those in crisis directly to the center.

“By bringing inpatient care to the Tri-Cities, CVCR will fill a critical gap in our region’s behavioral health system,” Comprehensive Healthcare CEO Jodi Daly said.

The facility offers four core services: a crisis relief center for short-term assessment, a 16-bed crisis stabilization center, a 16-bed residential treatment unit, and a secure withdrawal management program.

The rollout will occur in phases. While the residential treatment center is fully operational now, the crisis centers are currently at partial capacity with plans to expand by July 1. The withdrawal management program, which handles both voluntary and involuntary cases, will also begin partial operations this summer.

Benton County officials, who have collaborated on the project for years, called the facility a vital community investment.

“The facility brings intensive support closer to home, so people can access care in their own community and near the family and support systems that are so important to recovery,” Daly said.
