The Greene County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Monday.

Greene County Development Corporation Director Greg Piklapp gave an update to the Board. He said that they are doing aerial photos of the available lots in the GCDC business parks and will be marketing those. He mentioned that he is still working with the Iowa Department of Transportation on access to Highway 30, in the city of Jefferson, for a business prospect and is hoping to have a finalized decision soon.

He announced the June Build Your Own Business topic will be on the “Nuts and Bolts of Small Business” featuring information on finances and logistics. Piklapp also talked about the $100,000 grant from Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation and utilizing that between the two housing corridors in the county, along with projects in the city of Jefferson.

The Board also heard an update on the Behavioral Health realignment and the role of Iowa Primary Care Association. Besty Stursma gave an overview and said that PCA has contracts with 128 organizations in Iowa to provide treatment and solutions for anyone dealing with behavioral health issues. Bridgette Skalla is with Systems Navigation, which is an agency that helps direct individuals needing help with treatment, along with individuals on Medicaid and disability.

The Board then gave informal approval of the language that will be on a plaque at the base of the Schoolboy Soldiers of Rippey monument. Following some discussion, the Board approved the final language, as well as the monument itself that Committee Chair Chuck Offenburger said will be engraved and done with Jefferson Monument Works and a dedication ceremony is planned for mid-October.

Finally, the Board approved three individuals to be on the Greene County Veterans Affairs Commission, including Dustin Teays, Alexis Stevens and Shane Olson.
