As Hospital Week approaches, leaders at Howard Memorial Hospital are highlighting both the challenges facing the healthcare industry and the importance of supporting patients and staff.

Hospital Week will be observed May 10 through May 15, and in part two of a recent interview, CEO Stacy Harberson, Chief Nursing Officer Chris Stuard, and Dr. Carla Pumphrey shared insight into mental health services and employee support.

Harberson spoke about the current state of healthcare, noting the challenges hospitals face and the ways facilities are working to utilize available resources.

Stuard then discussed the hospital’s mental health services, including Compass Behavioral Health, and how those resources are helping meet the needs of the community.

From an internal perspective, Dr. Pumphrey emphasized the importance of mental health support for hospital employees, noting the need for accessible resources to help staff maintain their well-being.

In closing, Dr. Pumphrey said Hospital Week is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the contributions of all hospital staff.

Hospital officials encourage the community to join them in acknowledging the dedication and hard work of healthcare workers during the upcoming week.
