ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Behaviors are personal actions and manners that can be generated from moods, anxieties and impulsive disorders.

Genesis Healthcare System along with Allwell Behavioral Health Services have partnered to establish a youth behavioral facility that aims to address the behavioral issues being demonstrated by the area’s troubled youth.

“Today we are celebrating the opening of… the grand opening of our Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit. This is an eight bed unit for youth who are in a mental health crisis situation. And it’s about a 14 day program and we think we are going to be able to serve literally hundreds of children and families throughout our region,” Genesis Healthcare System CEO Matthew Perry said.

The individualized care will focus on 10 to 17 year old’s in search of the root causes of what the child is struggling with. The program will incorporate purposeful activities, family counseling and personalized strategies for healthier coping.

“We were able to achieve a… partnering with Misty Cromwell and the Behavioral Health Services board here locally, we were able to get a $1.6 Million dollar grant to be able to construct this facility. And so there’s nothing else like this anywhere near our region. So the ability to have these services locally with our… you know available for our families and our children, makes all the difference in the world,” Perry said.

The specialized services help minors that fall into the cracks between inpatient and outpatient capabilities and aims to provide them with a steadier footing that will help them lead a more stable life.
