With Mental Health Awareness month underway, Solano Advocates for Victims of Violence plans to help strengthen mental health awareness with a special event in Fairfield.
Miriam Escalona Cariño, a Family Advocacy Specialist with SAVV, said the nonprofit organization will hold a Community Mental Health Awareness Event, ‘You Are Not Alone,” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 21 at Willow Hall in the Fairfield Community Center, 1000 Kentucky St. The event is free and open to the entire community.
SAVV serves Solano County through advocacy, crisis support, community education, and resources for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and violence-related trauma.
“This free event is designed to bring together families, advocates, community leaders, and local organizations to strengthen mental health awareness,” said Cariño. It will also “reduce stigma, and connect Solano County residents with vital resources and support services.”
Cariño said visitors to the event can expect a welcoming, judgment-free environment. The event will include community resource booths sharing tools, education, and resources to support mental health and overall well-being.
Cariño called an opportunity to highlight the collective efforts being made across Solano County to support mental wellness, healing, and violence prevention.
“Together, we can break the stigma, build stronger communities, and remind every survivor, family, and individual that they are never alone,” she said.
