LIVERMORE, CA — All lanes of I-580 eastbound have reopened from North Livermore Avenue to Airway Boulevard after being shut down due to a mental health crisis on an overpass, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At around 1 p.m. Friday , an individual climbed over the fence of an overpass above the eastbound lanes of I-580 at Isabel Avenue, according to the Livermore Police Department. Officers negotiated with the individual, and personnel from the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department were called to the scene.
As of 3:30 p.m., the individual was brought to safety with the help of LPFD’s ladder truck, LPD said.
At 4:05 p.m., CHP announced that all lanes were reopened. Maps on 511.org and Sigalert.com show moderate traffic on the eastbound route.
