UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State Extension is offering a series of upcoming webinars and trainings focused on mental health awareness and support, including Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health First Aid for Adults Working with Youth.

Some courses offer continuing education credits.

The Mental Health First Aid Training is designed to help participants increase their comfort level in offering initial support to adults experiencing mental health challenges or substance misuse problems and connecting them with appropriate resources. Certified Penn State Extension educators teach the course through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

Upcoming Mental Health First Aid trainings include:

June 1 and 3, from 8:45 a.m. to noon. Registration deadline is May 25.June 2 and 4, from 8:45 a.m. to noon. Registration deadline is May 25.June 18, from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration deadline is May 31.July 15 and 16, from 8:45 a.m. to noon. Registration deadline is June 26.

Mental Health First Aid for Adults Working with Youth is intended for adults who regularly interact with young people. The training teaches participants how to provide initial support to youth experiencing mental health or addiction challenges and assist them in finding appropriate help and care. Penn State Extension educators teach the National Council for Mental Wellbeing’s Youth Mental Health First Aid course. Act 48 credits may be available.
