A forensic evaluation was completed for an ex-teacher who pleaded not guilty by reason of mental illness to criminal sexual conduct charges involving a 13-year-old student.
Lawrence Quinto appeared in the Superior Court of Guam on a November 2025 case stemming from a 13-year-old girl accusing Quinto of sexually assaulting her and exchanging text messages that were “sexual in nature.” At the time, Quinto was confirmed to be the victim’s teacher at Science is Fun and Awesome Learning Academy Charter School, but he is no longer employed.
The hearing held with the goal of Judge Vernon Perez seeking a status update on Quinto’s case proceeded with Quinto’s lawyer, Joaquin “Jay” Arriola Jr., and the prosecutor for the government, Christine Tenorio, confirming they both received the report related to Quinto’s mental health examination.
Quinto, after being charged in November 2025, pleaded not guilty by reason of mental illness, which called for Quinto to undergo an examination with a psychologist before the case could move forward.
Although the lawyers received it just before the hearing Monday morning, they needed more time to review it.
Motion
After discussions about the evaluation, a hearing date was set for Tenorio’s motion on behalf of the Office of the Attorney General to revoke Quinto’s bail.
In November 2025, Quinto was committed to the Department of Corrections pending trial on a $20,000 cash bail. Quinto, however, paid it 10 days later and was released from jail.
As part of Quinto’s conditions of release, he was ordered to not contact the victim in the case, but in February this year, he was accused by the AG’s office of violating the court order on four different occasions by attempting to contact the victim virtually.
Quinto was charged again with four misdemeanor offenses and committed a second time to DOC on $4,000 cash bail.
The following day, Quinto paid the cash bail and was released from jail a second time.
The hearing date for Tenorio’s motion was set for June 5.
