LifeSkills, Inc. President and CEO Joe Dan Beavers and Chief Operating Officer Eric Embry spotlighted their current Mental Health and Addiction Crisis Center construction project in Bowling Green and shared their idea of bringing a similar facility to the Pennyrile region.

LifeSkills is a nonprofit healthcare organization that works with the Kentucky Department for Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Addiction Services and provides behavioral health and addiction recovery services. At Monday’s Pennyrile Area Development District (PeADD) meeting, Beavers and Embry talked about the construction of their crisis center, also known as the Anchor Project, in Bowling Green.

The Crisis Center is set to include a Mental Health Crisis Intake Center, a Life Learning Center and an Office of Drug Control Policy. State funding and opioid settlement funds are supporting the facility’s construction.

Once the Bowling Green center is complete, Beavers says he would like to construct a similar facility in the Pennyrile region.

Embry says the Pennyrile facility would be suited to the region’s needs and could include crisis stabilization beds, medical detox resources, substance abuse disorder beds and mental health crisis services.

If local government leaders want a similar facility to come, the Pennyrile opioid settlement funds would have to be put toward the project. More information about the Bowling Green facility is available at lifeskills.com.
