Vanderburgh County Jail displays mental health services
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Indiana officials were in Evansville getting a closer look at mental health services inside the Vanderburgh County Jail.
The visit comes as the jail’s behavioral health unit marks its first year. The program run by South-Western Health Care provides mental health support for inmates.
Representatives from the Indiana Council on Mental Health traveled from Indianapolis to see the program in action. Health officials also discussed the forensic impact and how these services may be changing outcomes for people inside the jail.
We’re told these programs help inmates become better members of the community once they’re released.
