SOUTHINGTON — The WISE (Welcoming Inclusive Supportive Engaged) ministry at First Congregational Church of Southington will be hosting its second annual Town-Wide Block Party.
The block party, which is meant to celebrate mental health and community, will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. in the church lot at 37 Main St. A rain date has been set for May 31. It will include live entertainment, food trucks and information about mental health services.
“It will be a fun-filled, family-friendly afternoon for people to get together, enjoy some great food and treats and break down the stigma about mental health,” said Steve Palmieri, facilities ministry coordinator.
Palmieri said visitors will be able to enjoy live music and “delicious” free treats including cotton candy, snow cones and popcorn. They will also be able to “learn about valuable community services available in Southington and surrounding towns.”
“At WISE, we believe being welcoming, inclusive, supportive and engaged means showing up for one another — especially when it comes to mental health,” Palmieri said. “This event is one way we live that out as a community”
Entertainment will include Lisa Cote and Jill Thompson from 1 to 2 p.m., The Infinity Saxophone Quartet from 2 to 3 p.m., and Candy the Clown from 3 to 4 p.m.
“This event isn’t just about awareness—it’s about connection. It’s about helping people find the support they need in a setting that feels safe, fun and stigma-free,” Palmieri said.
