MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – A Madison library was evacuated Tuesday after a woman experiencing a mental health crisis brought a weapon inside the building.
Officers were called around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday to the Hawthorne Branch of the Madison Public Library after a reports that an armed woman was suicidal.
While officers de-escalated the situation, library staff moved other library visitors to a safe location.
The woman agreed to get further help, and Madison Police facilitated that for her.
In order to bring the situation to a safe resolution, Madison Police consulted both mental health officers and mental health professionals.
No injuries were reported.
