Valley Cities hosts a free Coffee+Community panel event for Mental Health Awareness Month
Mental health doesn’t begin at a breaking point. It grows, shifts and changes across a lifetime – and so does the support that helps people thrive.
That idea sits at the centre of the work Valley Cities Behavioral Health Care does every day across King County.
The organization offers a broad range of behavioral health services – counselling, crisis support, substance use treatment and more – with the belief that care should be accessible to everyone.
Its clinics serve individuals, families and veterans across the region, from children navigating early developmental challenges to older adults managing the transitions that come with age.
This May, in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Valley Cities is bringing that conversation into the community with a free Coffee+Community event – Growing Well: Mental Health at Every Stage.
The gathering takes place May 19 at 417 Ramsay Way, Suite 112 in Kent from 9:30 to 11 a.m., and is open to all residents, families and community partners.
“The goal is simple: reduce stigma, increase awareness and remind our community that support is available at every age and every stage,” says
Through a panel discussion featuring Valley Cities clinicians and community voices, the morning will explore how mental health needs shift from early childhood through older adulthood, what early warning signs and protective factors look like at different life stages, and how to talk about mental health within families.
The conversation will also cover when and how to seek support and what services and resources are available across King County. Time for audience questions is built into the agenda, giving attendees a direct line to the clinicians in the room.
Mental Health Awareness Month each May serves as a national reminder that mental health affects everyone – and that early conversation, connection and care make a measurable difference.
Stigma remains one of the most significant barriers to people seeking help and community events like Growing Well are designed specifically to lower that threshold.
Valley Cities has served King County for decades as a community-rooted presence – not just in moments of crisis, but as a consistent partner in long-term wellness.
Its programs are built on the understanding that mental health is not a destination but an ongoing practice and that everyone, at every stage of life, deserves access to support.
