Students, families, and community members gathered at McLane High School Tuesday afternoon for the school’s Mental Health Awareness Car Show, an event designed to raise awareness about mental health while connecting students with valuable community resources.
The event, held on campus at McLane High School, featured an impressive lineup of customized lowriders and classic cars, drawing crowds from across Fresno.
Organized in partnership with campus leaders, community advocates, and Q97.1, the event focused on promoting open conversations about mental health while also introducing students to local organizations and professionals offering support beyond the classroom.
School officials said the event was aimed at breaking the stigma surrounding mental health by creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere where students could feel comfortable discussing emotional wellness.
Several local organizations and potential employers were also in attendance, providing students with information about career opportunities, mentorship programs, and support services available within the community.
Representatives, including professionals from Drake Law Firm, shared resources and spoke with students about educational pathways, career development, and the importance of prioritizing mental wellness in professional spaces.
The event was organized with support from Armando “Birdy” Alvarez, Vice Principal Ramiro Teran, and CSW Angelica Rios, who worked to bring the awareness initiative to campus.
Attendees said the combination of vibrant lowriders, live entertainment, and access to real-world resources helped create an impactful experience that resonated with students.
School leaders said they hope the event encouraged students to prioritize their mental health, explore future career opportunities, and remember that support systems are available both on campus and throughout the Fresno community.
