ALEXANDRIA

— More than 200 people did their part to raise mental health awareness on Friday, May 15, in Alexandria.

That’s when the Vikingland Community Support Program had its annual Mental Health Awareness Walk.

The walk started from Vikingland at 1106 Broadway St., and ended in front of city hall.

“I thought it went very well,” Vikingland Executive Director Rebecca Schmitz wrote in an email. “We love to continue to see it grow every year, with new faces and returning faces.”

Schmitz continued, “The day turned out to be beautiful. Everyone was in great spirits to celebrate raising awareness and stomping out stigma. We are grateful for the community support and the opportunity to host this every year.”

Travis Gulbrandson covers several beats, including the Brandon-Evansville School Board. His focus will also be on crime and court news.
