BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — Belmont County commissioners used part of their weekly meeting Wednesday to spotlight mental health, declaring May as Mental Health Awareness Month as the county sees increased demand for crisis response and treatment.

Commissioners said the proclamation is meant to advocate for greater understanding and acceptance of mental health issues across the community.

Representatives from the Mental Health and Recovery Board attended the meeting to accept the proclamation.

As part of the declaration, commissioners encouraged residents to have “more good days together.”
