This is true of those with genetic illnesses or health conditions, too. Famously, activist Susan Potter, who had suffered from various illnesses and chronic health conditions such as cancer, diabetes and arthritis, donated her body to the Visible Human Project in Colorado, US, to help young people become better doctors. Her case is peculiar, as she agreed for her body to be frozen at -9.4C (15F), before being cut up into 27,000 slices. Each slice was photographed, layered and rendered to become a “virtual cadaver” – a 3D device which allows students to virtually dissect a body.
