Curio announced that it has acquired Nora Mental Health, a multi-state franchise system of community-based mental health clinics, expanding its behavioral health platform across the United States. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The acquisition strengthens Curio’s strategy of building a comprehensive behavioral health platform that combines evidence-based clinical care with technology-enabled services. Founded in 2018 by Dr. Cullen Hardy, Nora Mental Health operates a growing network of clinics across multiple states, providing individual, couples, child and adolescent, family, and group therapy, along with medication management through both in-person and telehealth services.
By integrating Nora’s clinical network into its platform, Curio aims to enhance access to behavioral health care through a combination of community-based clinics and digital-first tools. The company plans to leverage measurement-based care, care navigation capabilities, and technology resources to create a more connected patient experience across in-person and virtual settings.
The acquisition comes as behavioral health remains one of the most underserved areas of healthcare in the United States. Curio said the combined organization will expand the number of communities served, increase access to both in-person and virtual care options, and help patients more quickly connect with in-network therapists and prescribers. The organization will continue to focus on evidence-based treatment approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions.
Curio also plans to accelerate the growth of Nora’s franchise system. Since launching its franchise development program in 2022, Nora has signed multi-unit development agreements across several states, including Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, Tennessee, and Alabama. Under Curio’s ownership, franchisees will gain access to expanded technology, marketing support, payer relationships, clinical resources, and operational infrastructure designed to support future expansion.
Dr. Cullen Hardy and the existing Nora leadership team will continue leading clinical and franchise operations. Curio stated that existing clinics, franchisees, clinicians, and clients will experience no disruption to day-to-day care as integration efforts move forward.
Curio expects to provide additional updates regarding platform integration, technology deployment, and franchise expansion initiatives in the coming months.
KEY QUOTES:
“Nora has built something rare in behavioral health: a clinic model that is clinically excellent, locally rooted, and genuinely scalable. By bringing Nora into the Curio platform, we can expand access to care in dozens of new communities, support a thriving network of clinicians and franchise operators, and connect every client to a continuum of care that meets them where they are, whether that’s in a clinic, on their phone, or both. This is a defining step toward the behavioral health system Curio set out to build.”
