MADISON, Wis. — For the fourth consecutive year, a local craft market sent a powerful message: you are not alone.
The Madison Mental Health Market popped up this weekend to spotlight vendors with mental health diagnoses. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, attendees shopped displays featuring prints, ceramics, paintings and other items.
Located on Madison’s east side, the market aims to promote openness and community, said event organizer Heather Andresen.
“The vendors actually really connect with each other as well,” Andresen said. “They’ll trade diagnoses. They’ll talk about tips and tricks that help them with their symptoms. It’s just the most wholesome market I’ve ever vended at, and I’m just so proud of it.”
The market has grown significantly since its first year in 2022, but its commitment to accessibility has remained consistent.
The Madison Mental Health Market is expected to return for its fifth year next summer.
