Kairos is opening a new mental health outpatient clinic in Eugene, aiming to serve more than 200 patients in its first year and address a shortage of mental health services in Lane County.

EUGENE, Ore. – A new mental health outpatient clinic is coming to Eugene to address a growing need for mental health care in Lane County.

Kairos is a mental health care provider that has operated several clinics in Grants Pass, Medford and Coos Bay for nearly 50 years before expanding north to Lane County. Kairos also currently operates a residential treatment home in Eugene with five patients, but says the new clinic on West 18th Avenue near Chambers Street can provide support to more than 200 patients in the first year.

“Lane County, like much of Oregon, is underserved when it comes to mental health services. Oregon, unfortunately, ranks near the bottom when compared to other states,” said Scott Rogers, development director at Kairos. “So we feel that the need to expand here is almost an emergency.”

The new Lane Services facility will offer youth and family outpatient services including skills coaching, as well as individual and family therapy, among others. The center is expecting a staff of roughly 15 licensed therapists and skills coaches once construction is complete.

“The need has just been so great across this community for mental health services that we’ve been doing everything we can to fill that gap,” Rogers said.

In the meantime, the center offers telehealth services for youth and young adults. Rogers said he hopes the clinic will develop additional services after opening.

“Ultimately, I hope our impact will be that more young people, young adults, will receive the care that they need and that they won’t have to wait for the care that they need,” Rogers said. “And that we will continue to make Eugene, Springfield and Lane County a better place to live for everyone.”

The clinic is planning to hold an initial opening before the end of July, before a grand community opening in September.
