CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — The National Center for Healthy Veterans at Valor Farm in Altavista is hosting a car show sponsored by Lynchburg community partners to raise funds for veterans’ mental health.
The faith-based center is partnering with Anderson Counseling to hold a car show this Saturday, June 13, at Thomas Terrace Baptist Church.
The National Center for Healthy Veterans does a phenomenal job of helping veterans work through their trauma that’s impacting them,” Dr. Mike Anderson, Clinical Director at Anderson Counseling, said. “If we tend to their needs, we’re gonna help a lot of families who have put their lives on the line for our country, and give them an opportunity to come back and matriculate back in to civilian life.”
They’ll have a line-up of food vendors, cars and even pony rides.

“100 percent of the proceeds will go back to the National Center for Healthy Veterans, every penny that’s raised. We’re looking for good community support and an outpouring of love and a show of gratitude for what these folks have put on the line for us,” Dr. Anderson said.

The car show is being held in an effort to bring awareness to life after military service.
In thousands of dollars we spend in food every month for our veterans. We house them. We provide very supportive services. We take them to medical appointments. We give them counseling. We give them coaching. We give them equine therapy,” Retired Major General, and NCHV’s CEO, Bob Dees said.
Folks who go to the car show will help support 24 Valor Farm veterans struggling with post-service trauma receive much needed resources.

The center is also working to rebuild after a devastating 2024 fire destroyed their barn. Dees put the cost of caring plainly.
“I’ll just say it’s north of a million dollars. It’s about 1.9 million a year to run our program. That’s just to run the program. And then to finish the barn is about another million dollars,” he said.
The show runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Thomas Terrace Baptist Church, located at 10660 Richmond Hwy. in Lynchburg.
