CARTHAGE, Ill. — Memorial Hospital, in collaboration with Dallas City Elementary School and the Tracy Family Foundation, invites adult community members to participate in a meaningful seven-month book club series focused on The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt. The series, beginning in September 2026, will provide an opportunity for open conversation, education and collaboration surrounding youth mental health, technology and the challenges facing today’s younger generations.

Open to all adults ages 18 and older, the book club will meet once per month for seven in-person sessions. Participants who register by Aug. 12, will receive a complimentary copy of the book.

Designed to foster understanding and practical insight, each session will be guided by experienced educators and behavioral health professionals in a welcoming and supportive environment. Discussions will center around the impact of smartphones, social media and technology on youth mental health, while also encouraging community connection and meaningful dialogue.

In addition to discussion and education, participants can expect refreshments and opportunities for collaboration throughout the series. CPDU credit will also be available for teachers. Dates, times, and locations for each session will be announced via email following registration.

Community members interested in participating are encouraged to register early as complimentary books will be distributed to registered participants while supplies last.
