the pediatric ward i went to just gave u a look if you were freakin out, like "girl stop that or youll lose your movie privleges" or you just get sent to your room
We absolutely use ECT at every psych facility I’ve worked at. It’s in every psychiatric academic algorithm as useful or not for each diagnosis, and how useful or not. It definitely has a place.
I think of how disgusting it is to charge people tens of thousands of dollars for a visit. Theres no way to justify it. A suicide prevention website discussed the cost and it was one of the reasons people dont reach out.
You are the real hero’s When I was in the mental hospital I learned two things very quickly A: the doctors are not your friends they are lying so lie back B: the nurses are the people that do care about you You don’t know how drasticly my stay got better just from the help of kind playful and funny nurses who treat you like PEOPLE and don’t ask you “how are you feeling 1-10” “have you eaten” or “are you feeling the urge to hurt” it’s so nice to have good people there thank you
Electric Compulsive Therapy (ECT) is “still a thing”. It is used as much today as it has in the past; as a form of treatment for various mental health disorders.
While it does help some patients, it also harms countless others, such as myself. Doctors still do not fully understand the “pros vs. cons” of ECT. The major negative side effect is permanent loss of both long term and short term memory. They literally fry your brain folks!
Doctors who use ECT should have to personally experience it, before using it on their patients (aka, victims), much like police are maxed and tased in order to use them against others.
