Did You Grow Up In A Volatile Home? #trauma #childhood #behaviour #mentalhealth #attachment

one of the things that we’ll develop in order to manage and cope is a very acute sense of hypervigilance and that looks like never really switching off so being able to take in a lot of information all at once to be able to scan the room keep our ears wired for sound you know we’re not going to miss anything we’re a bit like a lighthouse our whole focus is on out there checking for danger sensing a changing mode trying to be one step ahead of the game so that we’ve got a bit of preemptive warning about what’s coming the other thing that people that live in a volatile environment learn to do is read people very quickly they don’t even know how they do it but they can sense what someone’s mood is they can sense all sorts of things about them because they learn to be always trying to assess for a threat
