UTICA, N.Y. — A new center in Utica is now offering urgent help for people facing a behavioral health crisis.

According to the New York State Office of Mental Health, the Upstate Caring Partners Supportive Crisis Stabilization Center of the Mohawk Valley is open 24/7 at 1002 Oswego St. and provides immediate care for those experiencing emotional distress, mental health symptoms, substance use challenges or other acute issues.

The facility, which opened this winter, is the fifth State-funded crisis stabilization center to begin operating and serves the Oneida County area.

Upstate Caring Partners received $3.8 million over five years to run the center, which is licensed in partnership with the Office of Addiction Services and Supports.

The center offers voluntary, short-term support for up to 24 hours and connects people to additional community-based resources.

Patients can receive care from mental health professionals, nurses and peer specialists as an alternative to emergency room visits.
