Free, expert-led conversations on navigating mental health services and needs in Colorado communities are slated for April 29 at two locations in Grand County, according to a recent press release from organizers.

The youth community connection events, organized by the University of Colorado Anschutz’s Department of Psychiatry and Reuniting Pathways, will take place from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Headwaters Center in Winter Park and from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at West Grand High School in Kremmling.

Scott Simpson, a professor and public mental health specialist at the University of Colorado Anschutz, and Sandra Fritsch, a psychiatrist at the University of Colorado Anschutz, will speak at the events.

The goal of the connection events is to share the organizations’ areas of focus regarding mental health services and to explore strategies for supporting youth mental health, according to the release. Topics of discussion will include substance and technology use and their impacts on mental health. An interactive session will create time to discuss how to increase access to behavioral health and other critical services within Colorado communities.

While the session is free for all members of the public, organizers request RSVPs to plan for attendance numbers.
