The Fraternal Order of Police Lake Superior Lodge 9 held their annual Spring fundraiser with a goal to increase mental health resources for local officers.

Held at the AAD Shrine Event Center in Hermantown, President of the FOP Lodge 9 and retired deputy sheriff for St. Louis County, Troy Fralich says they hope to raise $25,000 with all proceeds going towards their monthly member meetings, mental health trainings, and additional support for local officers when the need arises.

“We’ve had in the past where families are dealing with medical issues, maybe with a child or even themselves, to where they’re having to go down to the Mayo and stay quite a bit. So, we’ve done gas cards, food cards, help with hotel expenses, anything we can help to alleviate the financial side, so they can focus on the healing of the family,” said Fralich.

Bob Leclaire has been a FOP member for 12 years and a Duluth police officer for 15. He says the organization feels like family.

“I’ve been involved in some critical incidents and being involved in the FOP specifically has really helped with a lot of that because a lot of our members have been through similar things or know what I’m going through, and it has really been a godsend for my own mental health,” said Leclaire.
