As May marks Mental Health Awareness Month, local professionals are coming together this weekend in Palm Springs to raise awareness and connect residents with mental health resources.

The event will take place at the Palm Springs Cultural Center and will feature a full day of programming focused on healing the mind, body, and spirit.

Mental health therapist Peter Bedard will lead the event, which includes panel discussions, interactive activities, and a closing sound bath session. The day will also be moderated by NBC Palm Springs reporter Thalia Hayden.

Organizers say the goal is to reduce stigma and provide accessible resources for those struggling with mental health challenges. Local professionals will be on hand to offer guidance, support, and information about available services.

The event is free to attend, with a suggested $20 donation, and will run from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 2. Organizers say the first 30 attendees will also receive a complimentary copy of a published book by Bedard.

Participants say the event is intended to foster hope and remind people that they are not alone in their struggles, especially during a time when mental health concerns continue to rise nationwide.
