Actress and former child star Kirsten Storms is facing some legal trouble, after her ex-husband was granted a restraining order against her, according to reports.

Brandon Barash, who was married to the “General Hospital” star from 2013 to 2016, filed a request for an emergency restraining order, according to People magazine. In his filing, Barash alleged that Storms, 42, has been experiencing mental health issues that compromise her parenting of their daughter, 12-year-old Harper.

Barash’s request was approved by the court, with a judge agreeing that Storms is in a “mental health crisis,” per the outlet.

USA TODAY has reached out to Storms’ representatives for comment.

Storms’ former spouse, who first filed the restraining order in December, is also requesting that the Disney Channel alum undergo a mental health evaluation, People reports. He said Storms contacted him last May and revealed that she was “experiencing delusions and hallucinations,” allegedly telling Barash that she shouldn’t have custody of their daughter for her parenting time.

According to the outlet, Barash’s current wife, Isabella, helped Storms get hospitalized for her alleged mental health issues, and she was subsequently placed on a psychiatric hold.

Additionally, Barash said in the filing that a friend of Storms shared with him that the “Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century” star had “repeated episodes of melting down, being triggered, hearing things [and] voices that weren’t there,” per People. Storms’ friend also allegedly told Barash that she suspected the actress may be abusing “Adderall and other substances.”

Barash also raised concerns about Storms’ various financial issues, which allegedly include “living out of hotels or staying with friends” due to a lack of permanent housing in recent years, a car that is on the verge of being repossessed and being sued by her landlord for eviction.

In an April 24 Instagram post, Storms shared that she was given an eviction notice after reporting a break-in to police (she made similar claims about a home invasion in an April 9 post). Barash alleged in his restraining order petition that Storms told him in November that people were breaking into her apartment, removing things and placing them in her car to “mess with her,” per People.

Kirsten Storms restraining order comes after actress’s health issues

Storms, who underwent brain surgery in 2021 to remove a cyst, opened up about her ongoing health struggles in recent months. In an October Instagram post, the Emmy-nominated actress said an aneurysm was discovered on the right side of her brain during a scan last January.

She gave an update on her condition in a December post, telling fans that she was informed by her doctor that she was in the “gray zone” for an aneurysm procedure, which means the aneurysm is “not at the mandatory surgery size” and Storms had the option to continue monitoring the issue without immediate treatment.

A soap opera veteran, Storms has played Maxie Jones on “General Hospital” since 2005. The actress took a six-month hiatus from the series, due in part to her brain aneurysm diagnosis, and returned in February.

Storms’ most recent appearance on “General Hospital” was the March 13 episode.
