North Seneca Ambulance has announced the launch of a new Peer Support Program aimed at providing confidential emotional and mental health support for its staff.

Officials say the program was created in response to the unique challenges first responders face on a daily basis, including high-stress and traumatic situations. The initiative is designed to ensure employees have access to resources that support their well-being both on and off the job.

As the program develops, North Seneca Ambulance plans to expand it to include other emergency service agencies across Seneca County that choose to participate.

The Peer Support Program offers confidential one-on-one support, assistance following critical incidents, stress management and resilience resources, and referrals to additional professional services when needed.

The program was founded by Lieutenant Bonnell, who leads the Peer Support Team. The team includes three additional members trained in peer-to-peer counseling.

Agency leaders say the goal is to provide first responders with a trusted outlet to talk with someone who understands the demands of the job firsthand.

Organizations interested in learning more about peer support partnerships can contact North Seneca Ambulance directly.
